my new toy...

While I wait for the finishing touches to be put on my new website, I thought I would share my newest obsession with you.....

All my life I have wanted to learn the art of silk screening.

Every fall when the local community college sends out its catalogue of new classes, I threaten to sign up for Silk Screening 101.

Then, one day several months ago, I saw an add for this on TV:

One thing you don't know about me is, I am a sucker for an info-mercial.

After gasping at the price, I told my dear, sweet husband I knew what I wanted for my birthday.

Forget that it was January and my birthday is in March....

I said (in my best QVC, HSN host voice), "Look at all it comes with!"...

...."and look at all you can DO with it!"

Of course he said "Sure!" (because that's the kind of guy he is...)

And the rest is history.

Well, not really, because right after it came, we left to go on a long road trip, and when we returned, I got busy with my jewelry, my daughter had her baby, my house needed a good cleaning, the dog ate my homework.......yada, yada, yada.

The truth is, this machine was HUGE and intimidated me.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and order some canvas bag blanks to silk screen on. (yep, more $$$ invested)

Then I designed a graphic to print onto the bags.

Then I watched the instructional DVD for the 100th time.

Then I dove in....

Suffice it to say I am hooked.

Smitten....

These will soon be available for sale.
I don't know if you noticed, but I shamelessly added MY NEW WEBSITE address on the bottom.

But don't go there yet.....

I'll let you know when.

See ya!
ps: I just ordered beautiful canvas apron blanks....just wait until you see what I have come up with for mothers and daughters!
Stay tuned.....

  1. Wow! That's fantastic. I use to do screen printing. I loved it. Looks much easier with your machine than the way I use to do it! Have fun! Joan

  2. Hi Pammy,
I love the new toy!! You have really gone to town creating with it. I had to laugh when I saw all the bags drying on your floor.
The graphic you designed for the bag is just perfect!!
Thanks for the comment on my post. You are so right....a black raven would be perfect on the tree branch...back to Dollar Tree!!
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. I'd like to know how your toy works on burlap. I have a project that I have been wanting to do, and have been mentally girding myself to do it freezer-paper style, which means a lot of exacto-knife work...and when I think that 'all I would have to do' is come up with the cold-hard cash to avoid said tedium...*sigh*--but not worth it if it doesn't work well with burlap.
